GLS offers a full range of language interpreting services, from over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI) to on-site interpretation (OSI) in courtrooms and for high-level conferences and meetings. Our expert interpreters are highly educated and experienced, with several holding legal, medical and other relevant professional certifications.
GLS selects interpreters based on the specific needs of each event, including the type and amount of equipment required for OSI and hybrid events. Whether simultaneous, consecutive, escort or other modes of interpretation are used, we ensure that the interpreters’ backgrounds and experience correspond to the subject matter and cultural nuances of each assignment. GLS is an active member of the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters & Translators (NAJIT) and the American Translators Association (ATA).

GLS has a cadre of highly qualified and certified remote interpreters who perform simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation for one-on-one meetings and appointments for individuals, such as a a doctor’s appointment or court appearance, to large-scale conferences and bilateral meetings hosted by our US government and commercial clients. We have the capability to provide scheduled VRI services in more than 150 languages and on-demand VRI services in 40-plus languages.
GLS is adept at using a variety of videoconferencing platforms to perform these remote interpretation services, including Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx, etc. GLS currently provides VRI services to the Inter-American Foundation, the Department of Labor, and the World Resources Institute, among others. GLS provides OSI and hybrid conference interpretation in more than 150 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL). We have provided these services throughout the domestic United States as well as at overseas locations. As an example, GLS provided Spanish and Portuguese on-site interpretation (OSI) services for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in support of judicial and law enforcement conferences and trainings conducted in the tri-border region of South America. We also recently provided hybrid interpretation services (Mandarin<>English) for a bilateral (USA and China) climate change conference in support of the World Resources Institute in Los Angeles, California.
Since consecutive interpretation often requires only one interpreter (if assignment is less than 6 hours), so it is generally the most cost-effective, on-site interpretation solution. GLS routinely provides OSI consecutive interpretation in the following settings:
Simultaneous interpretation takes place in real-time, using specially-trained, two-person interpreter teams working together and broadcasting their voice to an audience wearing wireless headsets. This type of interpretation is often referred to as real-time or conference interpretation. GLS coordinates with trusted vendors to provide specialized equipment, including booths and maintenance support, as needed, to support multilingual simultaneous interpretation events at various venues.
